LA Knight was set to face a mystery man tonight (Nov. 14) on SmackDown in the opening round of The Last Time Is Now tournament. The big reveal turned out to be the surprise return of Zack Ryder (aka Indy God Matt Cardona), who was back for his first match on the WWE main roster in over five years.
Woo woo woo, you know it!
Long Island Iced Z’s inclusion in the tournament makes sense given that he was buried in a WWE storyline with Cena in 2012 during the infamous Hoeski angle; he would presumably love to be the man to retire John for good next month. But Zack was just here for a cameo appearance rather than to make a serious run in the tournament. Knight withstood the Rough Ryder and put Zack away with the BFT for the three count.
The megastar now joins Jey Uso, Rusev, and Sheamus in the second round of the tournament, which still doesn’t have a bracket.
