WWE Officially Acquires AAA in Groundbreaking Global Expansion Move

WWE continues to expand its global reach by working with several companies all over the world and in perhaps the biggest move in a long time, WWE has now announced that they have acquired the Mexican promotion AAA.

While speaking during the Countdown to WrestleMania 41 show, Michael Cole announced that WWE is acquiring the Mexican Lucha Libre promotion AAA. The acquisition is being done in partnership with the Mexico-based sports and entertainment holding company Fillip.

“WWE is announcing the acquisition of Mexican Lucha Libre promotion AAA. The acquisition is in partnership with Mexico-based sports and entertainment holding company Fillip.”

Michael Cole revealed that AAA General Manager Dorian Peña, the chairman of Phillipe, the AAA President, and Triple H were all present for the occasion.

Dorian Peña called it the beginning of a new chapter in the history of lucha libre. He shared how his uncle, father, and mother have been running AAA for nearly 33 years, and now, finally working with WWE, they expressed their pride to the luchadores.

“This is the beginning of a new chapter in the story of lucha libre. My uncle, my father, and my mother — they’ve been running AAA for almost 33 years. To finally be working with WWE, we told our luchadores that we are proud. Very proud.”

This comes after it was announced that NXT Worlds Collide is set to take place on June 7th at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, and it will feature talent from the legendary Mexican promotion AAA.

With this deal, WWE isn’t just getting bigger, it’s also becoming part of a long and special wrestling tradition. Lucha libre is one of the most exciting and important styles of wrestling, and AAA has been a big part of making it what it is today.

For Triple H and the WWE team, this is a smart move to make WWE more global. They’ve already worked with PROGRESS in the UK and started training centers in other countries. Now, by teaming up with AAA in Mexico, WWE is showing that it wants to grow around the world and bring all kinds of wrestling together.
