When Becky Lynch returned to WWE following an extended absence that sure felt like it could go on forever, she quickly found herself as a champion alongside old friend Lyra Valkyria. They won tag team gold at WrestleMania 41 but lost those titles right back to Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez the very next evening on Monday Night Raw.
That’s when Lynch snapped, attacking Valkyria and ultimately revealing she was the one who took Bayley out of the picture and she was pissed at Lyra for ever teaming with her at all. The friend of my enemy is my enemy and all that.
It all led to Backlash in St. Louis tonight (Sat., May 10, 2025) and an Intercontinental championship match.
Lynch got a bit unhinged during said match:
The story they told was that Valkyria was surviving everything the crafty veteran was throwing at her, to the point that Lynch went to the outside to get a folding chair. The referee stopped her from using it, taking it away and tossing it out. While she did so, Lynch exposed the top turnbuckle in the corner.
The ref noticed it at the worst time, trying to repair it while Valkyria seemingly had the match won and wasn’t getting the count quick enough. Later still, Lynch cheated again with an eye poke but Lyra still managed to roll her up to score the pinfall anyway.
After, Lynch beat her down and left her a mess in the ring, needing WWE personnel to drag her off. She also appeared to suffer some kind of injury to her nose, per commentary.
But, the important note — “Lyra Valkyria has arrived.”
