Gayle King is the latest CBS host that Donald Trump has condemned.
In a Thursday post on Truth Social, the president shared a New York Post report that alleges her future with the network is “murky as ratings for the ‘woke’ mornings [sic] show tank.”
“Gayle King’s career is over,” Trump wrote. “She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!”
The NY Post article further alleges that CBS Mornings’ ratings have dipped because its a “‘woke’ morning show” plus the “struggling network’s new owners vow to root out left-wing bias,” referring to the Skydance Media-Paramount Global merger.
The Hollywood Reporter reached out to CBS Mornings for comment.
In the report, an insider cited a March 26 segment with RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Bob the Drag Queen, where he promoted his New York Times bestselling novel, Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert.
Trump’s distaste for CBS hosts likely stems from his legal battle with CBS, which saw Paramount settle a lawsuit for $16 million with the president over Kamala Harris’ 60 Minutes interview. Sources claimed the suit could have impeded Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount, which requires approval from the FCC under the Trump administration.
A few weeks after the settlement was revealed, CBS canceled The Late Show. Stephen Colbert notably criticized Paramount’s settlement, and after the cancellation was unveiled, Trump celebrated the news.
“I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday morning. “His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! [Fox News late-night host] Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”
