KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi has said that the contest in NA-249 by-election in Karachi will be fierce till the last vote is counted.
However, he told Geo News on Thursday that the PTI was leading in every survey related to NA-249 constituency in Karachi.
Polling for by-polls in NA-249 constituency started at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm without any break. The National Assembly seat became vacant after the resignation of PTI’s Faisal Wawda.
Naqvi said Wawda worked for the NA-249 constituency after 20 years of neglect, talking about the PTI’s chances of winning the by-election.
Regarding the PPP, Naqvi said that the party had entered the playing field only two weeks ago. “I have heard that the PPP has done a lot,” he said.
The Sindh government has declared a public holiday today (Thursday, April 29) for the convenience of voters.
There are 30 candidates in the fray, including Muftah Ismail of PML-N, Amjad Afridi of PTI, Qadir Khan Mandokhel of PPP, former mayor of Karachi Mustafa Kamal and Hafiz Mursalin of MQM. Independent candidates are included.
