K Electric announced on Thursday that 75% of feeders supplying electricity to Karachi during Ramadan would be exempted from load shedding.
The power utility added that the entire city would not face power outages during Eid.
KEA Chief Marketing and Communication Officer (CMCO) Sadia Dada, while addressing a press conference along with the company’s Chief Executive Mons Alvi, said that the 220 KV double circuit project in Jamshoro was being carried out by the National Transmission and Dispatch Company. (NTDC).
The spokesperson said that NTDC has allowed KK to add 450 MW to its system, after which a total of 1,100 MW of power will be provided to Karachi.
In addition, work on Bin Qasim Power Plant III is 70% complete, while installation of up to 70% of the pipelines for the project is also complete.
He said that the demand for electricity in April-May could increase from 2,900 MW to 3,000 MW, however, load management would not be required this month.
“The maximum demand for electricity can go up to 3,300 MW,” Dada added.
