It’s been nearly a month since the Switch 2 was released. We’ve found that the Switch 2 is quite a nifty device (despite its expensive price tag) that even features backwards compatibility with most games on the Switch.
One of the most relevant games that can be played on the Switch 2 is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, it was quickly established that the Mii characters (Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter and Mii Gunner) had the potential to cause crashes when playing online under certain circumstances.
Fortunately, Nintendo was able to fix that issue in a new update. Aside from that, it would seem that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sees improved performance on the Switch 2.
As noted in a recent video by GVG, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s load times have been significantly reduced. Additionally, it’s able to consistently hold a 60 frame per second frame rate even in matches featuring eight players using the Ice Climbers (which means 16 characters on screen at once).
It really emphasizes the power of the Switch 2 when it’s able to perform flawlessly in situations in which the Switch would often struggle in. The Switch 2 is even able to load all character costumes nearly instantly whereas the Switch generally required more time.
Funnily enough, GVG notes that the Switch 2’s impressive performance might actually be causing some unique problems when playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate since load screens don’t stay on screen long enough anymore. This can be important in situations in which the player needs to read directions while the game is loading.
