PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq on Thursday inaugurated a special care unit for corona patients at Al-Khidmat Hospital.
A state-of-the-art healthcare unit has been set up in the provincial metropolitan police in the wake of the alarming increase in the number of corona patients and shortage of beds in tertiary hospitals.
The 25-bed unit is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as ventilator, special patient monitoring unit, oxygen machines, well-maintained instant care unit and Corona PCR laboratory. Also, a team of specialist doctors is available 24 hours a day for the special care of patients.
After inaugurating the facility, the JI chief visited each bed to inquire about the health of the inpatients. He presented a bouquet to each patient.
Al-Khidmat Foundation Provincial President Khalid Waqas Chamkani, General Secretary Shakir Siddique, Provincial Vice President JI Inayatullah Khan, General Secretary Abdul Wasi, District President Al-Khidmat Foundation Arbab Muhammad Haseeb and others were present on the occasion.
Siraj-ul-Haq blamed the government for its lack of seriousness against the corona epidemic. He said that the government was showing gross negligence in dealing with the alarming situation.
The government is still waiting for free vaccines from anywhere and so far it can only provide vaccines to one percent of the population.
He said that the lack of oxygen cylinders, ventilators and other facilities in the hospital could lead to a serious crisis at any time. He said the government would work on a war footing to ensure the availability of necessary facilities in hospitals.
Siraj-ul-Haq also criticized the implementation of lockdown in several districts of the country. He said that the government should provide food items to the poor people before implementing lockdown.
