  • Taylor Swift revealed the “insane” question she asked Travis Kelce on their first date
  • Swift had a question about football that, in hindsight, makes no sense

Taylor Swift’s football knowledge has come a long way since she first started dating Travis Kelce.

The pop star appeared as a special guest on the Aug. 13 episode of Kelce’s New Heights podcast, and revealed the question she asked him on their first date that had her laughing in hindsight.

Swift, who announced her new album The Life of a Showgirl on the podcast, praised Kelce, 35, for being “so non-judgmental” about the fact that she was a total stranger to the world of football when they first met.

“On our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl and he looked across the field across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing on the other… five feet in front of him on the field,” Swift, 35, recalled.

Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs went head-to-head in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022, when his brother and podcast co-host Jason Kelce, 37, was still on the team, prior to his retirement.

Jason chimed in when Swift recalled her question, noting that such a look between brothers “didn’t happen,” as that’s not how the game works.

“[Travis] didn’t even look at me. Like, I now know what an insane question that was,” Swift said. “He was like, ‘Actually, I’m on the offense and my brother’s on the offense, and I’m only on the field at the same time as the defense.’ I thought everyone was on the field at the same time.”

Over time, though, Swift — who attends many of Kelce’s games during the season — “fell in love” with football, and is now “obsessed,” she said.

“I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’” the singer said, referring to the 22-year-old wide receiver selected by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. “My friends are like, ‘Who bodysnatched you? What do you mean?’”

Travis, for his part, expressed appreciation for Swift’s dedication to the game.

“I am forever thankful for you diving into the football world wholeheartedly,” he said.

Just as the podcast was released, Swift announced that Life of a Showgirl will come out on Oct. 3, and revealed that she’ll produced it alongside Max Martin and Shellback.

The Grammy winner also unveiled a tracklist, which includes a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter.
