Right-handed pitcher Alex Philpott has committed to South Carolina, he announced on social media Friday afternoon.
“Let’s ride, Go Gamecocks,” Philpott wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Philpott may be a familiar name as he spent the last two seasons at Florida. In his time with the Gators, he went 5-6 with a 7.12 ERA in 67 innings of work.
Philpott mainly pitched out of the bullpen, but he made three starts in each season at Florida. In 2025, he went 3-4 in 22 appearances with three starts and had a 7.30 ERA in 37 innings. He struck out 44 batters and walked 18. Opponents hit .281 against him this year. He also had two saves on the mound.

Coming out of high school, the Tampa native was the No. 12 right-handed pitcher and No. 37 overall player in Florida, according to Perfect Game.
Philpott will have two years of eligibility remaining. He becomes the seventh pitcher to transfer to South Carolina and the 11th player to join the team out of the portal.
South Carolina has also added Louisiana-Monroe reliever Josh Gregoire, Purdue first baseman Logan Sutter, Samford two-way player Cullen Horowicz, USC Upstate right-hander Amp Phillips, Sacred Heart right-hander Elijah Foster, Georgia shortstop Erik Parker, Wake Forest right-hander Josh Gunther, Virginia left-hander Bradley Hodges, Wofford outfielder Tyler Bak and Western Kentucky outfielder Ethan Lizama.
The transfer portal opened on Monday, June 2, and will remain open until July 1 for all players.
