Oscar-winning Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chanay has expressed concern over the appointment of Turkish star Isra Beljik alias Haleem Suleiman as Peshawar Zalmi’s brand ambassador in the Pakistan Super League.
Most recently, Isra Beljik, who writes an article on the role of Haleem Suleiman in the historical drama series Here: Airtgroll, Speculation has arisen that when the Turkish actress shared a picture of Islamia College Peshawar with “City of Flowers”, she is being appointed as Peshawar Zalmai’s brand ambassador for PSL season 6. ۔
In this context, an Instagram page recently shared a post in which several netizens took part in the discussion.
Emmy-winning Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chanay also commented and raised her concerns over the Turkish actress being made a brand ambassador.
He commented, “I find this funny! A Turkish actress whose country does not even play sports will now become a mascot for cricket. How did the Pakistani actress rejoice?”
“Did it all disappear that we have to take the aliens?” Sharmeen said.
The filmmaker added, “What is left in our industry will die. If you keep paying Turkish actors for jobs, Pakistani actors can do it!”
