Many students across the country are happy with Shafqat Mahmood’s decision to close schools, colleges and universities till January 11. A video clip of a few people chanting slogans in favor of the education minister began circulating on the internet.

Earlier in the day, the benefits and celebrations were in response to Shafqat Mahmood’s decision, which he announced after a press conference.
“All ministers have agreed to close all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities and tuition centers,” he announced during a news conference. “However, online classes will continue from November 26 to December 24, after which the winter break will begin. Schools will reopen on January 11, 2021.”
The education minister had said that children’s health and safety was the government’s top priority, adding that the December exams would be postponed in addition to a few professional exams.
During the meeting, it was decided that micro-decisions regarding examinations and other matters would be taken by the concerned provinces.
