Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky, former champion Rhea Ripley, and Elimination Chamber winner Bianca Belair have been going back-and-forth for weeks now over who is ultimately going to be included in the match, for the title, at WrestleMania 41 next month in Las Vegas.
It started as Ripley vs. Belair, then went to Sky vs. Belair, then Ripley signed her name on the contract and worked her way into a rematch with Sky — one Belair was made special guest referee for — to potentially give us Ripley vs. Belair once more. Or maybe they finally just throw all three in there?
Sky vs. Ripley was given the main event of Monday Night Raw in London this week. Not surprisingly, with a special referee, there were shenanigans. Belair was inadvertently taken out with an errant kick and Ripley hit the Riptide shortly after to score a visual pin. Of course, Bianca wasn’t there to actually count it.
That led to those two arguing, and eventually Ripley slapping Belair in anger. Not long after, Sky went for a dropkick and laid out Belair after Rhea moved out of the way. That ended up being the finish.
That’s because Belair called it a no contest, meaning Sky remains women’s world champion, leaving the WrestleMania 41 match intact. Ripley’s response was to hit the Riptide on both of them to loud cheers from the O2 faithful. They even chanted “one more time” at her.
So she pulled Belair up to the middle rope and supercharged one more Riptide.
The entire build here continues to point to a triple threat but they have maintained on television it won’t actually be that.
(Insert shrug here.)
