Ebony’s Williams New York housewivesThe first member of the black cast and he is “deeply familiar” with its meaning.
During yellowing The power of reality TV with pop culture and Andy CohenAvailable exclusively on Yahoo Entertainment, Williams discussed the responsibility he had for joining the popular franchise for Season 13 and received advice from Bravo star Garsell Bewis.
“It’s an honor for me,” said Williams, a lawyer and television host, referring to the “much-needed racial reckoning” across the country.
“Listen, they could have chosen anyone. New York is full of incredible black women and women of color, so it’s a great honor for me to be number one in this place,” Williams added. “It’s a responsibility that I’m well aware of. I don’t just represent myself on this show, I fully represent black women. Can I be all black women at all times? Of course not. “It’s a stupid thing to do, right? But I will definitely try my best to show the lens of what a black man in New York might face.”
Williams added that he had “a very interesting conversation with Garcلa Beavis.” (BVS joined) The real housewives of Beverly Hills As the show’s first black housewife last year and the return of season 11 in May.
“Her castmates hinted a bit about her blackness and the fact that it was a historic moment,” Williams explained, explaining that her cast was “different.”
“No one was walking on egg shells and no one was afraid to go straight to it,” he added.
Lonnie de Lespis, Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan are returning to Season 13 with last year’s breakout Leah McSweeney. Williams said she appreciates how she handled the situation during the filming.
“I would say I’m a straight shooter, it really made me a lot more comfortable and I felt like we could get a real honest, real quickie,” he noted.
