The federal government on Wednesday removed Amir Zulfiqar and appointed Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad.
According to a notification, the newly appointed IGPs were serving in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before being given a new portfolio.
The development comes days after Osama Nadeem Satti was shot dead on Islamabad’s Srinagar Highway after he allegedly ignored a police warning to stop.
The officers were remanded for another seven days
Earlier, the Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court extended the physical remand of five policemen arrested in connection with Osama’s murder by seven days.
The investigating officer requested the court to remand the accused for another 12 days. The judge asked if the weapon used in the murder had been recovered.
The investigating officer replied that weapons have been confiscated from the accused and weapons and shells used in Osama’s murder have been recovered.
