Punjab farmers reject wheat subsidy
Multan: Farmers have rejected the support price of Punjab wheat at Rs 1,800 per 40 kg and demanded a minimum of Rs 2,000 per 40 kg as prescribed by the Sindh government. Chaudhry Anwar, chairman of the Pakistan Kisan Ittehad, said that after the skyrocketing prices of fertilizers, Punjab’s subsidized wheat prices could hardly cover the cost per acre. He said that wheat farmers in South Punjab were ready to stage protests in this regard.
