KIRK: A policeman was shot dead in an attack on a security team of polio workers in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday.
Unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on the team, killing Junaidullah, a resident of Mianki. Junaidullah belonged to the Frontier Reserve Police.
The anti-polio team was administering polio drops to children in the area when they were attacked, police said. The polio vaccination campaign has been suspended since the attack.
A Levies official was injured in the second attack on the polio team in Upper Dir. The incident took place in a village near Sheringal, an administrative unit in the Upper Dir district.

Sources said that the accused were arrested on the spot and handed over to Sheringal police.
Pakistan’s first polio vaccination for 2021 began on January 11.
The National Polio Vaccination Campaign will run for five days and aims to immunize more than 40 million children under the age of five across Pakistan.
