ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan on Tuesday said that Pakistan hopes to receive the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine from a Chinese firm in early February. ۔

Sultan said the government was considering “multiple options” and was in contact with all companies whose vaccines had been approved internationally.

Dr Rehman said both public and private sector companies would bring the vaccine to Pakistan but the private sector would have to register its vaccine with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRPP).
“DRAP will check and control both the quality and price of vaccines from private companies,” he added.

Dr Rehman said the general public would be vaccinated between June and September this year.
“Pakistan is considering getting vaccines from all the companies whose vaccines have been approved internationally,” he said.
