The Green Bay Packers have signed G/C Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) to the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Wednesday.
Smith (6-3, 314), a third-year player out of Virginia Tech, has spent time on the Packers’ practice squad this season and was a gameday elevation for one contest. He was also with Green Bay during this past training camp and in 2024 was with the Packers in the offseason, training camp and on the practice squad for the first six weeks of the season. In 2024, he also spent time with the New England Patriots, appearing in eight games with one start, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Smith was originally selected in the sixth round (No. 215 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He played in 10 games as a rookie for the Cardinals, opening two games at right guard. In 2023, he spent time on the practice squads of the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles. Smith played in 45 games with 38 starts for the Hokies and was a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection (2019-20). He will wear No. 68 for the Packers.
