IDAHO FALLS – Less than a year after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and selling hundreds of locations, Big Lots has sold another 19 locations in 15 states, including Idaho.
Penn Live reported Friday Tractor Supply bought 19 former Big Lots leases. Among them is the lease for the Idaho Falls store at 1530 East 17th Street.
Several companies have purchased Big Lots in the wake of the bankruptcy filing in September. Variety Wholesalers bought between 200 and 400 stores in December. Tractor Supply reportedly acquired the leases of 19 locations at an auction.

The Idaho Falls store is the only Idaho location Tractor Supply bought. Others on the list include two Oregon locations, three in Florida, two in Tennessee, as well as locations in Missouri, Georgia, Louisiana, Vermont, Texas, Illinois, North Carolina, Maryland and Pennsylvania. In a statement to USA Today, a Tractor Supply spokesman explained the reason for buying these stores specifically.
“These locations offer the ideal footprint, feature favorable lease terms, are strategically positioned in existing and adjacent trade areas to serve the essential needs of farmers, livestock and pet owners, ranchers, part-time and hobby farmers, gardeners, homeowners, tradesmen, and others,” a spokesperson said.
Tractor Supply is the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the U.S., according to its website. It offers a variety of lawn and garden products, pet supplies, farm and ranch equipment, clothing and apparel and more. There are 2,296 stores in 49 states, including 12 in Idaho.
On the eastern side of the state, Tractor Supply Co. has a location in Driggs, Pocatello and Salmon.
