An iconic piece of Idaho history has gone missing.
A metal sign, which on the front advertises the nearest Stinker Station and on the back says, “Warning to tourists—do not laugh at the natives,” was last seen near Beach’s Corner at the junction of Highway 26 and Highway 43. However, in late February it went missing.
The sign was set to be donated to the Museum of Idaho for its upcoming Signs of the Times exhibit, which opens April 19. Anyone with information is asked to contact the museum at 208-522-1400.
The museum says no questions will be asked if the sign is returned.
