KARACHI: A Sindh police spokesman on Wednesday said that at least 199 personnel have signed contracts with the novel Coronavirus in the last four days.
According to the statement, a total of 5,246 police officials have tested positive for the virus while 614 people are currently undergoing treatment. The virus has claimed the lives of 23 police officers while 4,609 have recovered.
Sindh is the most affected province with 237,308 infections since the first detection of the novel coronavirus at the end of February last year. Today, the active number of cases across the province is 18,377.
Figures released by the provincial government show that 21,629 people have tested positive for the SARS-Co-2 virus since the beginning of January 2021. In almost a year since the virus was first detected in the province, at least 3,830 people have died.
Since the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRP) has identified two anti-coronavirus vaccines for emergency use, the vaccine, through Aster Zaznika Oxford and a Chinese synopharm, has been funded by the Sindh Health Department. Billions of rupees have been demanded.
