The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho’s current exhibition, Make Your Mark, features the vibrant works of Gloria Miller Allen and Linda Aman. Known for their bold use of color and layered techniques, both artists invite viewers to reflect on the creative process itself—how each brushstroke, texture, and gesture leaves a personal imprint. The exhibition celebrates not only finished works of art but also the act of making. Gloria and Linda remind us in their words and in their art that creativity is a conversation between artist, medium, and viewer.
As part of the exhibition, TAM is hosting a very special evening event on Thursday, September 25, 2025, that will give the public a rare opportunity to see Miller Allen and Aman at work. Following TAM’s annual meeting, the artists will share their insights in an Art Talk and Q&A session from 6:00 – 6:30 pm. Visitors will hear firsthand about their inspirations, methods, and philosophies of artmaking. The conversation promises to be as colorful as their paintings, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how ideas transform into artworks.
Immediately afterward, from 6:30 – 7:30 pm, the two artists will take up their brushes for a live painting demonstration! If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to create a work of art, now is your chance to find out! Using the large community canvases created by museum visitors throughout the summer, Allen and Aman will put their principles into action, transforming collective marks into new works of art. This interactive demonstration underscores one of the central themes of Make Your Mark: inspiration comes from many sources, including found and repurposed marks!
The evening event is free and open to the public, making it an accessible way for anyone—seasoned art lovers, budding artists, or curious community members—to experience art in action. Guests will not only witness two accomplished artists at work but will hopefully gain a deeper appreciation for the role of creativity in community life.
Make Your Mark continues to offer visitors a dynamic blend of finished works and participatory art experiences, encouraging everyone to consider how they, too, leave their mark on the world. Immerse yourself in the exhibit with TAM’s first ever, free audio tour. The September 25th event will be a highlight of the exhibition and a memorable opportunity to see art come alive before your eyes.
