Kim Kardashian’s Leather Met Gala 2025 Dress Plunges All the Way Down to Her Butt

Ever since a then-pregnant Kim Kardashian first walked the Met Gala steps in a custom floral Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress that spawned countless memes, the reality star has become one of the most highly-anticipated appearances at the event. Kardashian rarely plays it safe, whether she’s wearing a Mugler corset dress “dripping” with pearls or going full Marilyn Monroe by pairing the iconic actress’s birthday dress with a bleach blonde bun—and the 2025 Met Gala was no exception.

In a nod to this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” Kardashian stepped out on Monday, May 5 wearing a black leather Chrome Hearts dress that hugged her curves from head to toe. The body-con gown featured an asymmetrical neckline that hung off her right shoulder, as well as subtle peplum detailing and pockets along her stomach. A diamond-studded chain hung off the front of Kardashian’s dress and wrapped around her floor-length skirt. As the multi-hyphenate turned, she showed off her skirt’s low-rise cut from behind as well as her top’s backless design, which was held together by a few strips of leather and plunged all the way down to her butt.

The multi-hyphenate, who stepped out with her daughter North West for the star-studded event, paired her bold Met Gala look with plenty of jewelry. She turned heads with a statement multi-strand diamond choker, which shimmered around her throat and all the way down her chest. Wearing her dark hair styled in bombshell curls over one shoulder to show off a pair of dangling diamond earrings, Kardashian opted for a black hat in a reference to this year’s dandyism dress code.

Kardashian’s appearance comes shortly as she teased fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the beauty procedures she was doing ahead of the 2025 event. The designer is no stranger to going the extra mile to prep for the Met Gala, and she revealed she was getting a non-invasive ultrasound Sofwave treatment that can costs up to $4,000 to snatch her face and neck ahead of the star-studded event.

She shared several Instagram Story photos of herself getting the FDA-approved treatment, which stimulates collagen and reduces signs of aging while lifting the skin. She wrote, “This is my third time doing @sofwavemed and I think it’s one of the only lasers that works for firming!” 

The Skims founder’s latest Met Gala dress was a sartorial 180 from last year’s look, which saw Kardashian posing in a silver corset dress designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. The curve-hugging body-con dress featured a completely sheer skirt embellished with floral appliques in a nod to the gala’s “Garden of Time” dress code. Meanwhile, a platinum-haired Kardashian surprised fashion fans by wearing a light gray cardigan that she revealed was inspired by the theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

“This is like the wildest night of my life in a garden,” Kardashian told Vogue at the time about why she added the sweater. “And I just ran out and grabbed my boyfriend’s sweater and threw it on. And had to get to work. My hair’s all messed up.”
