Nowshera: Federal Minister for Defense Pervez Khattak on Saturday welcomed the suggestion of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to take over as Prime Minister and bring a no-confidence motion in Parliament to change the present government.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari believes in democracy and is well aware of the political and constitutional ways to bring about change in parliament. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has spoken about the supremacy of the constitution and democracy, which we welcome. The Defense Minister said this during a gathering at Manki Sharif near here.
He further said that the opposition parties could launch a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the National Assembly and the government would have to face it with open heart. Regarding the broadsheet firm, Pervez Khattak said that it was a problem of Pervez Musharraf’s tenure and the present government had nothing to do with it.
He alleged that the thieves had resorted to aggression to obtain NROs but would be unable to blackmail the government as the public was well aware of their corrupt practices. The Defense Minister said that the opposition parties had taken huge loans and it was Prime Minister Imran Khan who had promised to take the country out of the current mess.
He said the country’s financial situation would have been very different, but the outbreak of the corona virus epidemic had worsened its economic situation. He said that it was the democratic right of the opposition parties to hold demonstrations but they should not weaken the country.
He said that the opposition parties wanted to cover up their corrupt practices as they had faced inquiries from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for their involvement in corruption.
He said that the opposition parties would not be able to take advantage of the sentiments of the people as they were well aware of their corrupt practices, which was leading the country towards debt trap and economic ruin.
“We were elected by the people and the ruling party enjoys the support of the people,” he said, adding that opposition parties had been rejected by voters in the last general election. Crushing was defeated and the PTI candidate won the by-election on PK-63 in Nowshera.
