Journalism launched a stunning comeback down the stretch to win the 150th Preakness Stakes on Saturday.
The Kentucky Derby runner-up rallied past Gosger to emerge victorious from a nine-horse field in the 1 3/16-mile race at Pimlico.
Here’s a look at the full order of finish and payouts after Saturday’s race.

There was no Triple Crown storyline on Saturday in Baltimore after Sovereignty, the winner of the Kentucky Derby, skipped the race in order to prepare for the upcoming Belmont Stakes.
Journalism, who won the Santa Anita Derby in April, entered the race as the favorite. Journalism had won four of six races and earned more than $1.6 million in prize money ahead of Saturday’s main event.
Gosger entered the race having won his last two starts, most recently claiming a victory in the Grade 3 Lexington Stakes in April.
The horse is named after former MLB outfielder Jim Gosger, who told Paulick Report’s Clark Spencer that being the horses namesake “ranks right up at the top” of his career.
Two other horses who finished behind Journalism in the Derby, Sandman and American Promise, also made the trip to Pimlico.
Sandman finished third ahead of Goal Oriented, who was trained by two-time Triple Crown winner Bob Baffert. Goal Oriented also raced on Derby Day at Churchill Downs.
Fifth-place finisher Heart of Honor was racing in his first start in the United States after making five previous starts in the United Arab Emirates and one in the United Kingdom.
River Thames, who finished sixth, skipped the Derby to focus on the Preakness. He came to Pimlico following a third-place finish in April’s Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes.
Pay Billy earned a spot at the starting gate by winning the Grade 3 Federico Tesio Stakes in April. Deputed Testamony, who won at Pimlico in 1983, was the last Tesio Stakes winner to take first at the Preakness.
Clever Again entered the race more fresh, with six weeks having passed since his Hot Springs Stakes win at Oaklawn Park, but finished at the back of the pack.
The 150th Preakness was the final race to take place at the old Pimlico Race Course. The 2026 Preakness Stakes will take place at Laurel Park while the racetrack is demolished and reconstructed ahead of a planned return in 2027.
