Multan: Nine more people have died in Nishtar Hospital in the last 24 hours.
The deceased have been identified as 80-year-old Nawab Din, Kausar Bibi, 65, Rukhsana Bibi, 36, Sultan Saleem, 55, Zahid Abbas, 60, Muhammad Shafi and 50-year-old Nusrat Bibi, all from Multan, Asma. BB, 53. And Zainab Bibi, 85, from Muzaffargarh.
Nishtar Hospital is treating 267 patients including 117 corona positive. Corona positivity ratio is Khanewal 40pc, Multan 21.61pc, Vehari 12.4pc and Lodhran 2.51pc.
During the last 24 hours, 209 patients tested positive in Multan division where 1,325 corona tests were performed.
In Multan district, 156 patients tested positive in public and private hospitals where 722 corona tests were performed. In Khanewal district, 15 corona tests were conducted and 10 tested positive.
In Lodhran district, 279 corona tests were performed and seven patients tested positive.
Plaza demolished: South Punjab Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department on Tuesday demolished a commercial plaza in Burewala for violating regulations.
According to officials, South Punjab Secretary Housing Liaqat Ali Chatha ordered the demolition of the commercial plaza.
The Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency seized the land on which the plaza was erected, officials said.
On the occasion, Chatha said the plaza was demolished in collaboration with the district administration.
He said the cannons had illegally set up 22 shops and other illegal structures.
He said that the operation against squats would continue in future also.
Chatha appreciated the efforts of Director Tahir Ansari and Assistant Commissioner Burewala Muhammad Omar Farooq.
