Idaho State Police chase ends with collision; trooper and civilian suffer minor injuries

A high-speed pursuit involving an Idaho State Police (ISP) trooper ended in a collision Friday night at the intersection of Yellowstone Highway and Pancheri Drive.

The incident began around 10:00 p.m. when the trooper attempted to stop a vehicle linked to a felony warrant. The suspect fled, leading to a chase where multiple spike strip attempts failed.

During the pursuit, the trooper collided with an uninvolved civilian vehicle. Both the trooper and the civilian driver sustained what are believed to be minor injuries. The trooper was treated and released at the scene, while the civilian driver was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The suspect vehicle was not arrested and remains at large. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is handling the crash investigation and will provide updates as they become available.

ISP expressed relief that the injuries appear non-life-threatening and that no bystanders were harmed. The agency will conduct a full internal review of the incident, as is standard procedure following any pursuit and crash involving a trooper.
