Down Detector reports rolling in
Down Detector isn’t the be all for outages, but it’s a good place to start. In the case of this Apple outage, we’re seeing reports in the 900 range, which isn’t crazy high, but it’s enough to indicate that something is off.
Apple Status site
Apple’s status site is showing a couple services with outages and even more with issues. It’s unclear if the services listed as having issues are fully down or just loading slowly, though we can confirm that we’re unable to load iCloud Web apps, which is listed as having an outage.
We tried iCloud.com and found that it wasn’t working at all, backing up the status on Apple’s own website.
Interestingly, some other iCloud services appear to be working fine, so it seems that the issue is fairly isolated.
Reports starting to go down on Down Detector
After spiking at a high of around 905 around 12:30 p.m. Pacific, reports have started to drop down.
Currently, it sits around 775 reports.
The official Apple status page is still showing an outage for iCloud.
What services are currently affected?
Based on the Apple Status site, you might see these services having issues or suffering an outage.
- iCloud Web apps (icloud.com) – Outage
- iWork for iCloud – Outage
- iCloud Mail – Issue
- iCloud Account & Sign in – Issue
- iCloud storage upgrades – issue
- Find My – Issue
- Photos – Issue
- Apple Business Essentials – Issue
Apparently, Apple Business essentials has suffered on and off outages today.
We found on X (nee Twitter) a number of users reporting issues with iCloud.
As multiple X users cried out, “iCloud is down???????”
Over on the iCloud Subreddit, a big post has nearly 100 comments on the issue with people discussing an inability to sync or download.
Some people have tagged official Apple accounts but Apple doesn’t really use its accounts and mostly seems to be sitting on the name so that trolls don’t take it.
Another Down Detector drop
While Down Detector is not the end all be all when it comes to outages, it is a decent indicator that problems are surfacing and generally a good gauge of the length of an outage.
Currently reports are hovering around 550, but the Apple status page still shows the same outage status from an hour ago.
Still, some users on social media have claimed that they’ve been able to access iCloud again.
No change
As of this writing, DD is down to under 200 reports.
The Apple status page has the same outage messages that have been showing since about 1 p.m. Pacific.
We’ve reached out to Apple for any answers on the status of iCloud and when things may be outsourced. We’ll update once we’ve received any answers.
FaceTime problems?
Things have largely remained the same since our last update.
We have not received a response from Apple yet.
However, we also track outages with a site called StatusGator which has put warning labels on FaceTime and iMessage which can be connected to iCloud. It’s not clear if any problems those two apps are having are related to iCloud currently.
The Apple Status page does not list FaceTime or iMessage as having any problems.
Anecdotally, I have not seen any issues with either app and am not seeing comments elsewhere, but I am keeping an eye on it.
iCloud calendar?
It’s not an outage but the Apple status page now has iCalendar listed as potentially having problems.
Are you having problems with your iCloud calendar? Let us know.
No change but ongoing
Things remain relatively the same.
We’re seeing a mix of reports from users saying that iCloud services are back but also one user on Reddit just posted:
“Text messages I get on the iPhone do not show up in the message app on the MacBook since early morning.”
So, something is still happening but it’s not clear how many people are still seeing issues.
It’s finally over.
After the last update, the Apple status page updated to greens across the board saying that outages have been resolved.
Currently, it reads that 5 outages were resolved today with 12 issues being resolved.
