Donkey Kong Bananza’s DK Island + Emerald Rush DLC dropped a few days ago, and there’s more to it than meets the eye – but only a little bit more. As it turns out, there’s a secret boss fight hidden within the DLC that takes more than a couple of hours to unlock. Once you do, it’s surprisingly tough, and we’ve put together a guide on how to unlock this hidden boss battle and some tips on how to clear it. As a heads up, you can expect the game’s performance to dip during this fight – in our experience, things went below 30 frames per second more than a few times. As usual, there are spoilers within, so only continue if you’re okay with knowing who the secret boss is.
How to unlock Void Kong rematch
Donkey Kong Bananza’s secret boss is an extra-difficult version of Void Kong, and you can unlock the battle by earning 10,000 VoidCo points in Emerald Rush. This takes a long time – it entails collecting all of the standard rewards Emerald Rush has to offer, and will require that you play through the mode on high difficulties many times to earn enough points.
Even though this is essentially a reskinned Void Kong fight, it is much more difficult than the one in the Forbidden Layer. The projectiles Void summons deal much more damage, are much larger, and in some cases are really tough to avoid. This fight is difficult, but only if you choose not to cheese it. You could simply buy five Apple Juices to get an auto-revive every time your health reaches zero, and you’ll probably be fine. If you want to do it the legitimate way, though, we would recommend using Zebra Bananza and running around the projectiles rather than right through them. The battle takes place on DK Island, which means Zebra’s ability to run over water without slowing down is really helpful.
