IDAHO FALLS — A company with a popular subscription service that alerts people when prices drop on flights to different destinations expanded to Idaho Falls this week.
Flights From Home is based out of Salt Lake City and has been around for seven years, according to Jenny Smith, a Flights From Home flight expert and project manager for the Idaho Falls expansion. Flights From Home finds deals out of Salt Lake City, Provo, Las Vegas, St. George, and, as of Wednesday, Idaho Falls.
Flights From Home can help meet the needs of travelers in those cities by providing them with cheap flight options out of their home airports.
“We don’t actually book anything for anyone. We just let them know when it’s cheap to fly,” Smith said.
Smith and her team find flight deals by using different tools to search for flights every day. They send out the best ones they find via email, on their Instagram page, and on their website.
“We feel like a lot of people in eastern Idaho know about Flights From Home and use it, (and) they (previously had) to drive to Salt Lake City (to fly),” she said. “We wanted to give people here the opportunity to fly out of their home airport and get good deals out of Idaho Falls.”
When Flights From Home finds and shares a cheap flight, deal details are included in the alert, such as the destination, what it normally costs to fly there, suggested travel dates/availability, how long the deal will last, the airline(s) involved, baggage rules, and how to find the deal to book the trip.
“We’ll be sending all kinds of deals, just like from Salt Lake City,” Smith mentioned. “We’ll mostly be focusing on the non-budget carriers — Delta, United, Alaska and American. But we will also send deals occasionally for Allegiant.”

“Free subscribers get about 25% of the deals. We usually post most of them on our Instagram page and send out emails to the email list for the free subscribers,” Smith stated. “Premium subscribers, it’s $49 a year to subscribe and get all of the deals. You’d get access to all of them — 100% of the deals that we send out.”

“I love this service. I’ve used it even before I was an employee,” Smith said. “I think it’s amazing to have affordable travel options. I think everyone should know about it because we hope people travel for less, save money, and get out there to (explore) the world.”
