The Esports World Cup 2025 is officially underway in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the first fighting game happening will be Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
16 players qualified for the event and they are KSG|Xiaohai, CAG|Fenrich, DFM|Go1, Saishunkan|Nemo, Falcons|E.T., IGZIST|KojiKOG, WBG|Poongko, AG|Reynald, ONIC|NYChrisG, Yesports|RB, T1|ZJZ, Falcons|Kindevu, Navi|DarkAngel, GHZ|TheGio, Falcons|Xyzzy and Falcons|Mok.
Players have been divided into four different groups with four players each which will play through an internal double elimination bracket in a first-to-3 format.
The winner and runner up in each group, totaling eight players, then qualify to the final bracket which is a first-to-5 single elimination bracket until a champion has been crowned.
Esports World Cup of course comes with a massive prize pool attached to it — one to the tune of $1,000,000.
Each qualified player gets a cut of that pie with even the first ones eliminated netting themselves a solid $20,000 each, gradually scaling up with each placement until 1st place which goes home with a massive $300,000 to their name.
