Multan: Participants of a rally on the occasion of International Civil Defense Day on Monday stressed the need for civil defense training and said it was essential for every citizen to deal with internal and external natural disasters.
The rally was organized by Solan Civil Defense and participants said that civil defense training is essential for citizens to deal with emergencies. A strong civil defense is also essential for a stable economy.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amir Katak said that civil defense training is key to dealing with internal and external disasters and strong civil defense is essential for a strong economy.
He said that the volunteers performed well. He paid rich tributes to the civil defense workers who worked hard in the Sangrudhai centers in the fight against Corona. He greeted them for their civil defense services at the Sangrudh Center in Multan last year.
At a time when the whole world was gripped by the Corona virus epidemic, Civil Defense volunteers were serving food to patients at the quarantine center.
He said that like Lahore and Faisalabad, the number of civil defense volunteers would also be increased in Multan district. At the end of the rally, DC inaugurated the Civil Defense Registration Camp and cut the cake.
The DC also signed the registration form as a Civil Defense Volunteer. City Assistant Commissioner Abida Farid and CSO Shabana Saif were also registered as volunteers.
Faisalabad: The district administration and the district civil defense department jointly organized an awareness walk on the occasion of International Civil Defense Day here on Monday.
The walk was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner HQ Muhammad Khalid which started from District Council Chowk and ended at Clock Tower Chowk passing through Khaliq Qureshi Road, Circular Road and Kachehri Bazaar. Participants held banners and placards with slogans about the importance of civil defense.
Expressing its views, the ADC said that the training of civil defense is a great humanitarian service and World Civil Defense Day is being observed to create awareness among the people about helping humanity.
The CDO said that several steps are being taken to bring the civil defense organization in line with modern requirements. He said that the volunteers of the Department of Civil Defense were rendering invaluable services in maintaining law and order and assisting the law enforcement agencies.
He said that the Civil Defense Organization is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, an awareness camp was set up at Clock Tower Chowk for demonstration of Civil Defense equipment including bomb disposal remote, bullet proof jackets, bullet proof helmet, folding. Tall, metal detectors, gas masks, special detectors, electric torches, drills, cutters, life jackets, flame cutters, jumping sheets, life rings, chipping drills, rope throw guns and other security gadgets were hung.
