BEIJING: Eight Chinese bombers and four fighter jets have entered the southwest corner of Taiwan’s air defense identification zone, and the Taiwanese air force has deployed missiles to monitor the attack, the island’s defense ministry said. Said on Saturday.
“Aircraft warning teams have been assigned, radio alerts have been issued and an air defense missile system has been deployed to monitor the activity,” it said in a brief statement on Saturday. There was no immediate comment from China.
China, which claims Taiwan as its territory, has flown almost daily in recent months between the southern part of Taiwan and the Taiwan-controlled island of Pratas in the South China Sea.
