The Hillcrest girls and Century boys each finished second at the 5A state tennis championships on Saturday. Century finished second to Bishop Kelly by just 1.5 points.
Century also took home a fourth-place trophy in the girls team competition and the Idaho Falls boys finished third.
Individually, it was a good day for doubles teams from Idaho Falls and Century.

Thunder Ridge’s Caleb Warner reached the semifinals in boys singles before falling to Randy Li of Timberlake. He advanced to the consolation semifinals, as did Highland’s Cody Christensen.
Madison’s boys doubles team of Austin Lamb and Michael Wray reached the consolation semis.
Madison’s mixed doubles team of Lucy Barton and Dallin Andreasen reached the semifinals and then came back to win the consolation championship 6-2, 6-4 over Hayes Deaver and Mae Doughty of Capital.

Idaho Falls’ girls doubles team of Katie Woodhouse and Addi Westwood won the state title with a three-set win over top-seeded Kayla Nielson and Sofia Guzman of Bishop Kelly.
Two area boys teams also earned medals as Century’s doubles team of Daniel McGee and Liam McGee held off Idaho Falls’ Ozzy Groberg and Indy Groberg in the boys doubles final, 6-2, 6-0.
Nate Romriell and Kate Spicer of Century knocked off top-seeded Maggie Scanlan and Ryan Emerson of Bishop Kelly 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 to win the mixed doubles title.

Keeley McGeehan and Bel Miller of Century were seeded fifth but came back to win the consolation doubles title 6-3, 6-2 over Twin Falls’ Kallee Manning and Millie Western.
Skyline’s mixed doubles team of Grant Parker and Shay Shippen won the consolation mixed doubles championship.
Singles
Hillcrest’s Brinley Nelson finished second in girls singles.
Max Traynor of Idaho Falls finished second in the boys singles bracket.
Century’s Tiden Lynn won the consolation singles title with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bishop Kelly’s Ellis Brown.
Hillcrest’s Kaia Kessler advanced to the singles consolation final, beating Century’s Macie Sutton in the consolation semis.
Skyline’s Jonas Menlove reached the semifinals of the consolation bracket.

The Sugar-Salem mixed doubles team of McKay Flaig and Isabelle Tuttle advanced to the consolation semifinals.
