Bonneville Transfer Station to close for a week in May

IDAHO FALLS- The Bonneville County Transfer Station will be closed from May 12 to May 16.

The closure is due to maintenance needed on the “trench” where waste is gathered, according to a news release. The metal floor of the trench will be repaired during the closure.

The transfer station will still accept tires, freon items (such as refrigerators, freezers and A/C units), used motor oil (up to 5 gallons) and lead acid batteries during the closure.

Municipal and household waste will be diverted to the Peterson Hill Landfill, 9449 East Sunnyside Road in Idaho Falls, during the closure. Its operating hours are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

If you wish to recycle metal or cardboard, do so at the Bonneville County Hatch Pit at 3690 Recycle Road in Idaho Falls. The Hatch Pit is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Sundays.

For live updates and information about the closure, visit the Bonneville County website.
