Nintendo fans have been waiting nearly a decade for Metroid Prime 4 to release, and that monumental event could be happening sooner than any of us could have ever anticipated.
As first shared on Reddit, a Nintendo fan in London spotted an ad for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond that features the words “OUT NOW.” Of course, the game, which was re-confirmed in February, to release at some point this year, has not been given a firm release date, and is almost certainly not available on Nintendo’s digital storefront.
Naturally, the seemingly innocuous advertisement, which is at the Oxford Circus station, has sent fans into a frenzy, as they try and figure out if the highly-anticipated title is set to be a random shadowdrop a la the Oblivion remaster from earlier this year.

In Case You’re Wondering, It’s Not A Photoshop Project
For those cynics who might think it’s an excellent Photoshop job, the person who spotted the advertisement provided a number of pictures, all from different angles that point to this being a legitimate ad.
It’s unclear how this happened, or if Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is even intended to be a shadowdrop. A few gamers have theorized that where the ad reads “OUT NOW,” it’s supposed to have a “COMING SOON” or “INSERT RELEASE DATE” cover over it that will then be removed when the game is actually released.
That said, gamers also pointed to the fact that Metroid is no stranger to the shadowdrop treatment. Back in 2023, Nintendo revealed the existence of Metroid Prime Remastered, only to then let fans know it would be available later that day. In other words, never say never when it comes to Metroid.
