LAHORE: Railway Minister Azam Swati has promised to improve the entire railway infrastructure in six months with the same rolling stock.
In a meeting with delegations of trade unions of Pakistan Railways at Railway Headquarters Office, Lahore on Friday, he said that he would reward the workers for their good work but no one would be given overtime illegally.
The meetings were attended by Inayat Ali Gujjar, Central President of Rail Mazdoor Ittehad, Hafiz Suleiman Butt, Central President of Prem Union and Haji Saeed Areen, Secretary General of Pakistan Labor Federation Union.
The delegations gave suggestions to the Railway Minister on the issues of employees and measures to make the railways more profitable. “Our primary responsibility is to run the train operation for which we are paying full attention,” he said, adding that their doors are always open to eradicate corruption.
Later, Swati met the contractors working in the railway catering department and listened to their complaints and assured them of redressal.
Swati later visited the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club. And attended a detailed briefing on the Royal Palm operation as ordered by the Supreme Court. Addressing the Royal Palm Management Committee, the Minister said that you should provide facilities to the traders only then your land will be run on commercial basis.
During the briefing, Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Railways Nisar Ahmad Memon, Additional General Manager Traffic Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, Additional General Manager Shah Rukh Afshar, Divisional Superintendent Lahore Division Amir Nisar Chaudhry, Advisor Railway Dastgir Baloch Chief Commercial Manager Musafar Farooq Iqbal and Royal Palm Prince Saeed Iqbal Malik was also present.
