PESHAWAR: Police on Wednesday arrested two more accused in connection with the vehicle used in the murder of an anti-terrorism court judge Swat and three members of his family, who are said to be from Swabi district. Used at Amber Interchange on Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway. .
Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court granted bail to senior lawyer Abdul Latif Afridi before his arrest, who was nominated by the victim’s family along with his son and others in the case.
ATC Swat Judge Aftab Afridi, his wife, daughter-in-law and a granddaughter were martyred in an attack on his car on the motorway near Swabi. The judge’s guard and driver were seriously injured in the attack.
Abdul Majeed Afridi, the son of a martyred judge, had mentioned six identified accused and four unidentified persons in the first Information Report (FIR) lodged at Swabi’s Chhota Lahore Police Station. They included senior lawyer and Supreme Court Bar Association president Abdul Latif Afridi and his son Danish Afridi.
The vehicle used in the attack was recovered on Wednesday, while two suspects, Aziz and Dawood, were arrested. Raids are being carried out to nab the other accused in the case but their identities have not been revealed. On Wednesday, the PHC granted bail to SCBA President Latif Afridi in the case before requesting his arrest. Latif Afridi is a senior lawyer and was once elected to the National Assembly from Khyber. His son Danish Afridi has already been arrested.
