After taking care of business against The Outrunners on the All In Texas pre-show, FTR joined the commentary for the PPV’s three-way AEW Tag title match between champions The Hurt Syndicate and challengers JetSpeed and The Patriarchy. That ended up being more important than the outcome of the match.
Before we get to that, we’ll tell you that Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler were there for a live version of The Syndicate’s popular entrance, with MVP doing his verse alongside Westside Gunn as the Globe Life Field chanted about hurting people.
JetSpeed’s Kevin Knight & Speedball Bailey got off to a hot start, but not even Bobby Lashley’s banged-up (literally, but The Patriarchy’s Christian Cage & Nick Wayne on Dynamite) could stop the champ’s roll. Shelton Benjamin demonstrated why…
The “father & son” duo of Cage and Wayne picked their spots, and Cage almost had it won at one point, but MVP distracted the referee while he covered Benjamin. Nick got an even more impressive moment…
It was FTR that helped produce the finish. After a miscommunication with Christian on Collision, Harwood & Wheeler weren’t happy when Lashley sent Cage crashing into them. Bob then shoved them back into their seats. Dax & Cash got on the apron to deal with that just when Christian was getting ready to hit the Killswitch. The confusion allowed for Lashley to hit a spear to allow The Syndicate to keep the belts.
In the aftermath, as we were waiting to see what FTR would do, Nick Wayne, his mother, and Kip Sabian turned on Christian!
The Top Guys didn’t seem to be involved in the planning, but they had no issue with what was happening, even handing Nick a chair to hit a Con-Chair-To. And that was when “Metalingus” hit the loudspeakers, signaling Adam Copeland’s return!
Cope was back to get even with Dax & Cash for attacking him a couple months back, but in the process he did save his former tag partner.
No reunion yet, though. In a nice callback to when Cage told the former Edge to “go fuck yourself” when the Rated R Superstar pitched a reunion after his arrival in AEW, Cope told his childhood fried to “go find yourself”.
