The following is a news release from Teton Music.
Teton Music, a cornerstone of the Eastern Idaho arts community, regretfully announces the closure of its retail location at Teton Spectrum in Ammon, Idaho, effective March 31. What began in 1999 as an online platform for co-founder Michelle Willis’ original music compositions—performed in schools, churches, and concert halls worldwide—has grown over 26 years into a full-service music company cherished by musicians and families alike.
From its humble roots, Teton Music expanded to offer string rentals and sales, eventually becoming a comprehensive retailer of band, string, percussion, musical theater, and piano products, as well as sheet music. The company established a location in South Jordan, Utah, and in 2022, opened its Ammon store, bringing its passion for music back to the region where owners Spencer and Michelle Willis were born and raised in Idaho Falls. Deeply committed to the community, the Willises built a legacy of supporting the arts in Eastern Idaho.
“We’re incredibly proud of what our family and company have done to bring more of the arts to this community,” said Michelle Willis, co-founder. “When others said ‘no,’ we always strived to say ‘yes,’ supporting families, schools, and organizations with genuine care.”
Teton Music earned a reputation for putting that commitment into action, quietly and often anonymously donating tens of thousands of dollars in pianos, instruments, sheet music, and supplies to those who needed it most. They were among the first sponsors of Idaho Falls’ Center Stage Theatre during its inaugural season and provided pianos free of charge for events like high school graduations, music school recitals, Christmas at the Grand Teton Mall, and Teton Spectrum performances.
The decision to close the Ammon location stems from prohibitive, rising lease costs at Teton Spectrum, coupled with increasing product costs, including recent tariffs and material expenses.
“This wasn’t an easy choice,” said Spencer Willis, co-owner. “But while our brick-and-mortar store is closing, our commitment to Eastern Idaho continues.”
Teton Music will maintain its service to the community through its online store at TetonMusic.com, where it will continue offering string instrument rentals and its renowned piano tuning services.
To mark the closure, a final in-store sale begins immediately: until March 31, all upright pianos will be priced at $2,500 and all remaining grand pianos at $4,500, regardless of original retail value, with all other products discounted by 25%. Every world-renowned piano sold carries Teton Music’s signature 10-year warranty, ensuring lasting quality for customers.
After April 1, Eastern Idaho customers can shop online and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount on all instruments and sheet music using the promo code IDAHO.
“This is our way of saying thank you to our roots and ensuring our community still has access to quality products and services at unbeatable prices,” added Spencer.
The Willises invite the community to visit the Ammon store at 3025 South 25th East before March 31 to take advantage of the closing sale and celebrate a legacy of music and generosity. Teton Music’s South Jordan, Utah location and online platform will continue to serve customers nationwide.
