Duck season has officially opened in Idaho Falls.
On Wednesday, at their lunch, the Idaho Falls Rotary Club kicked off duck sales for their 34th annual Idaho Falls Greenbelt Duck Race.
This event, which will be held August 8 and 9, raises money for community projects centered on the greenbelt and Heritage Park in Idaho Falls.
This year’s grand prize is 2025 Kia K4 provided by Stone’s Kia.
There are also lots of other prizes as people buy their ducks and then at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 30,000 ducks will be dropped into the Snake River and the first duck to cross the finish line wins the grand prize.
There will also be classic cars, live music, and speed boat races.
“All of our money goes to the greenbelt,” says Duck Race Committee Member Kevin Call, “thus, the Green Belt Duck Race. But we’re working on Heritage Park, which is down on the south end of the greenbelt. And every year we do a little additional. This year we’re doing two really nice shelters, so we’ll have down there.”
“You know, the benefits. We do a lot around the area and stuff, but this is one of our favorites because it goes directly to all the community and the greenbelt,” says Stone’s Auto Group General Manager Kyle Stringham, “it’s one of those that you can see that you work with. And it shows benefits every year.”
