IDAHO FALLS — An Ammon man faces multiple charges after he allegedly uploaded more than 40 images of child pornography to a social media app.
Connor Jacob Robinson, 28, was charged with 13 felony counts of possession of child pornography after his arrest in April.
Each charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
According to court documents, in January, a detective with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office was assigned to investigate two cyber tips. The social media company Kik submitted the tips to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The cyber tips detail that two Kik accounts had uploaded 42 images of child pornography to the app during November. The document states the images were of girls as young as 5 exposing themselves.
After the first cyber tip was filed, subpoenas were issued to multiple internet service providers, which gave an address in Ammon, later confirmed to be Robinson’s home. Another address filed was where Robinson worked.
After the second tip, a subpoena was filed to Google for a Gmail account that was found to contain images belonging to Robinson and his nickname, CJ. The document states the images on the account were compared to his driver’s license and personal social media accounts.
On April 30, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted a search warrant on Robinson’s home in Ammon, where he was later detained and interviewed.
The documents state Robinson admitted to having a Kik account with the username “deviljuice666” and a Gmail account.
When questioned about the Kik account, the Robinson allegedly told authorities that he was in a bad place at the time and was in a “gross, horny stupor.”
“Robison did admit that the things he saw scarred him for life and has made him depressed about seeing it. Robison continued that it was his pornography addiction that led him to this,” the documents state.
Robison’s Kik account was linked to a group, and when questioned about the group chat’s contents, he said the people in there would send him those images. He said, “a bunch of weird porno guys in it that send weird porno guy s***.”
The document states that the group was classified as 18+, but Robinson stated that he would receive unsolicited images from other people.
Robinson told authorities he had to upload images to join those groups, but he claimed he did not know what was in the files.
“Robison told me that he did not know he was getting into a group with a bunch of pedophiles,” the document states.
Robinson will appear before Magistrate Judge Robert Crowley at 1 p.m. on May 13.
Though Robinson has been charged with these crimes, this does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
