Even before we knew for a fact that Becky Lynch was returning as Bayley’s replacement on Night Two of WrestleMania 41, some online fans weren’t happy about it.
There were many more angry voices on social media after it came to pass last night (April 20), especially after Lynch won a championship in her first match since last May when she & Lyra Valkryia took the WWE Women’s Tag titles from Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez…
You get the idea.
Connecting Lynch to Hulk Hogan in any way is pretty ridiculous*. We’ve not only never heard about any backstage politicking from Becky, but it’s hard to find anyone in the locker room that has anything bad to say about her at all. She’s put over others throughout her career, including Valkyria two years ago in NXT and Morgan last year before going on hiatus. Even the other match a lot of critics point to while throwing around the “Becky Hogan” joke — Lynch’s return at SummerSlam 2021 and a 26-second victory over Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s title — started a long story that culminated in Belair getting her win back at the following year’s ‘Mania.
Regardless of whether you’re on-board with the whole “Becky Hogan” thing or not, Lynch wants you to know she’s going to be around full-time effective last night. She told us that on last night’s Post-Show:
“Yeah, The Man don’t do part-time. When I go, I go hard. I go hard until I can’t go no more, or until I take another break.”
Guess the haters can hope that next break comes soon, at least.
We’ll see what, if anything, Becky Hogan The Man does to annoy her critics on Raw tonight.
* As longtime members of the Cageside Seats community know, I’m a really big fan of The Man. But even if I wasn’t, I’m pretty sure I’d find the name and insinuation behind it ridic.
