Sarah Sherman extended an olive branch to “White Lotus” actress Aimee Lou Wood after making her the butt of the joke on “Saturday Night Live.”
Wood took to social media over the weekend to express her disappointment after “SNL” mocked her appearance, most notably, her teeth, in “The White Potus,” a sketch that parodied the HBO series and President Donald Trump.
The “White Lotus” star, 31, called the sketch “mean and unfunny,” later sharing that “SNL” apologized over the parody.
On Tuesday, Wood took to her Instagram Stories to share the “beautiful” gift Sherman, who portrayed Wood’s TV character, Chelsea, in the sketch, sent her.
Posting a photo of a gorgeous and colorful arrangement, the star thanked the comedian publicly for the kind gesture.
“Thank you for the beautiful flowers,” Wood captioned the bouquet while tagging Sherman.
This comes after the actress was seemingly tricked into posting an apology from a spoof account pretending to be Sherman.
After realizing the mistake, Wood deleted the post.
The fake apology that came from @sarahsquirm_5 and not the comedian’s official account @sarahsquirm addressed the drama surrounding the “SNL” parody,
“Many of you saw the recent SNL sketch where I portrayed a character inspired by @aimeelouwood I want to sincerely apologize for any hurt or discomfort that sketch may have caused her,” the apology from the fake account read.
“The use of prosthetic teeth and the exaggerated accent weren’t meant as personal attacks, but I get why it felt that way,” it continued before alleging that “at SNL, we always try to aim upwards and make smart comedy, but I acknowledge that we missed the mark this time.”
The flowers from Sherman come after photos emerged showing Wood sobbing in South London on Monday after expressing her sorrow over the “SNL” parody. The British actress was comforted by “House of the Dragon” actor Ralph Davis.
Wood later addressed the pictures and explained her tears weren’t about the “SNL” drama while replying to a fan who claimed the actress was “reduced to tears because of people tearing into their appearance.”
The fan added, “Shame on SNL for their cruelty,” to which Wood responded, “Thank you so much. Just to say, I actually wasn’t crying about anything that the papers made out I was crying about 😂Something completely unrelated.”
While Wood didn’t appreciate the parody on “SNL,” her co-star Walton Goggins praised it.
The actor, who played Chelsea’s love interest, Rick, called it “SMASHING” in a since-deleted post amid rumors that the pair had a falling out.
Eagle-eyed fans of the Emmy-winning series noticed Wood and Goggins don’t follow each other on Instagram and didn’t do press together to promote “White Lotus.”
While they have yet to address the falling out rumors, their co-star Jason Isaacs (Timothy Ratliff) acknowledged that the cast had “arguments” while filming in Thailand.
“Some people got very close, there were friendships that were made and friendships that were lost,” he told Vulture.
