Deputies said a family fight between two brothers sent one man to the hospital and the other to jail.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — A Christmas morning family fight in Idaho Falls sent one man to the hospital and one to jail. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) said the fight, and subsequent shooting, took place around 9:00 a.m., on the 3800 block of American Way.

In a news release, Sgt. Bryan Lovell stated deputies found one brother, 38-year-old Rocky Allan Allred had a head injury and the other brother, had been shot in the arm.

According to police the brothers had been fighting and making threats. Allred then tried to shoot his brother who hit him in the head with a 2×4 to avoid being shot. However, Allred fired and shot his brother with a handgun.

BCSO said the victim was taken to the hospital where he was later released and Allred was charged with aggravated battery and booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
