The postseason fates of both Alabama and Auburn are hanging in the balance as the No. 10 Crimson Tide travel to take on their biggest rival in an Iron Bowl showdown with major ramifications. If Alabama can win for a third straight time at Jordan-Hare Stadium, it could head to the SEC Championship Game having solidified its College Football Playoff standing.
Auburn needs the win in order to reach a bowl game and to give itself a substantive victory by which to remember an otherwise forgettable 2025 season. The firing of coach Hugh Freeze after a 4-5 start led to the installation of interim coach D.J. Durkin, which has paid dividends through two games. With offensive coordinator Derrick Nix in control of the play-calling, the Tigers have looked rejuvenated in their past two games. Against that backdrop, this has the makings of a potential classic.
