The second round of John Cena’s “The Last Time Is Now” tournament wrapped up with two separate matches on tonight’s (Nov. 28) Black Friday episode of SmackDown.
First up was Jey Uso eliminating Rusev via pin fall after an Uso splash. I thought The Vision might show up to get revenge on Jey after he played a role in Bronson Reed’s elimination last week, but Paul Heyman’s squad was nowhere to be seen. Uso went on to win a fair fight over the Bulgarian Brute.
The more interesting bout, at least on paper, was LA Knight versus a mystery replacement for the injured Sheamus. The mystery was revealed early in the show when The Miz tricked GM Nick Aldis to steal another entry in the tournament, after already being eliminated in round one.
The A-Lister is a low card wrestler in WWE, so his underhanded tactic was great news for the megastar. Miz put up a competitive fight, but it was just a matter of time until Knight put him down with a BFT for the three count. I’d say The Miz was a disappointing mystery replacement for Sheamus, but I guess that’s what happens sometimes when an unexpected injury pops up.
With the second round of the tournament now in the books, that gives us a final four of GUNTHER vs. Solo Sikoa and Jey Uso vs. LA Knight. These two matches will take place on next week’s (Dec. 1) Raw, with the final tournament match scheduled for later in the week (Dec. 5) on SmackDown.
