No. 3 Texas A&M hopes to punch a ticket to the College Football Playoff with a marquee matchup against rival No. 16 Texas. The Aggies have jumped out to an 11-0 record for the first time since 1992 under second-year coach Mike Elko, headlined by a road victory against No. 9 Notre Dame.
Texas came into the year ranked Preseason AP No. 1 for the first time in program history, but have already picked up three losses. The Longhorns are a long shot case to make the College Football Playoff, but a rivalry game against an undefeated Aggies gives them at least a chance.
The Longhorns stunned the Aggies 17-7 last year in the return of the rivalry for the first time since 2011. However, Texas A&M beat Texas during their last trip to Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium in 2010. The Aggies will try to keep the road winning streak going on Friday.
