Sean “Diddy” Combs is being transferred from a Brooklyn, New York, jail to a federal prison, a source close to the disgraced music mogul told NBC News on Thursday.
It wasn’t immediately clear where Combs, 55, is being moved to. Representatives for Combs did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
As of Thursday afternoon, an inmate locator showed that Combs was still housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, but the entry is likely to change early Friday, according to another source familiar with Combs’ legal matters.
Combs was sentenced this month to 50 months in prison on two counts of interstate prostitution.
After an eight-week trial, he was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. He pleaded not guilty and has maintained his innocence.
Combs’ lawyers have said they are pursuing an expedited appeals schedule and described prosecutors’ use of the Mann Act — which prohibits traveling across state lines to engage in prostitution — as “unfair.”
Combs has spent more than a year behind bars and is expected to be released on May 8, 2028.
Federal prosecutors had accused Combs of using his position as an entertainment mogul to force or coerce women into sexual acts with paid sex workers.
The alleged victims included Combs’ former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who testified that she was subjected to physical abuse and dayslong drug-fueled sexual encounters with male escorts under Combs’ direction.
